Haiti and the Chareidim

I've been following the Haiti situation (like everyone else) for all the normal reasons, plus someone I know is actually missing there. One aspect of this awful tragedy though has surprised me - when it happened, some skeptic friends of mine were asking how long until some Chareidi Rav blames it on Loshon Horo or something equally ridiculous. Yet not only has that not happened, I think I detect a sea change in Chareidi attitudes - YWN proudly reporting on Zaka's mission there and similar articles in the Chareidi press.

Have the Chareidim finally realized that they are citizens of the world, and all humanity is created (kaveyochol) btzelem elokim?
